In September:
Nursery through 3rd Grade: will continue to explore the different ways we use our voices in singing seasonal songs (N-K), interpret lyrics and examine musical elements using songs from musicals (1-3) and prepare Liturgical songs for upcoming school Masses (K-8)
4th Grade: will continue their Recorder Karate I unit. Students will review how to play G,A,B.C and high D
5th Grade: Will begin their Reggae Unit! Students will study the lives and songs Bobby McFerrin, Bob Marley, Ziggy Marley and the House of Marley company. Songs such as “Three Little Birds” and “Don’t Worry Be Happy” will be studied.
6th Grade: Students will begin their Musical Unit. Students will learn about conversational singing, learn about the first musical and compare Broadway present day to the 1800s.
7th Grade will begin their piano unit! Students will learn about Middle C and proper finger technique. Students practice playing C through G (left and right hand) and play exercises using those five notes.
8th Grade will review the C, G and F chords learned in 7th Grade with more advanced songs. Students will review the FACE/EGBDF reading notation system and fill in the notes to advanced songs accordingly.
