Extracurricular Activities

Fitness Club:  This club is designed to introduce the children to the importance of good fitness.  Children will work to develop their stamina, strength, speed, and agility.  All participants must wear sneakers and active clothing.  Children should bring clothes to change into unless they have Gym on Mondays.  Bottled water will be provided for all participants.

This Club is offered by Mr. Houlihan and Ms. Falco for Kindergarten - Grade 8.

Soccer/Futsal Club:  Soccer games will be played on the grass in the playground and Futsal will be played in the Auditorium.  Futsal is a faster-paced game of Soccer played indoors, with emphasis placed on moving without the ball, short, quick passes, and teamwork.

This Club is offered by Mr. Houlihan and Ms. Falco for Grades 1 - 5.

Gagaball Club:  GAGA is a fast-paced, high energy sport played in an octagon pit.  The more players the better!  The game is played with a soft foam ball, and combines the skills of dodging, striking, running, and jumping while trying to hit opponents with a ball below the waist.  Players need to keep moving to avoid getting hit be the ball.  It is fun, easy, and everyone gets a workout!

This Club is offered by Mr. Houlihan and Ms. Falco for Grades 1 - 5.

Story Hour with Mrs. Gallagher:  Students do a craft then listen to stories come alive as Mrs. Gallagher reads them stories related to their craft.  Students become aware of authors, illustrators and develop a love of reading.

This Club is offered by Mrs. Gallagher and Mrs. Ewald for Pre-Kindergarten - Grade 8.

Sign Language Club:  Students discover a new language using their hands, American Sign Language.  Children learn the alphabet, numbers, colors, songs, prayers, and many basic signs to be able to communicate with the deaf and hard of hearing world.  

This Club is offered by Ms. Anderson and Miss Luciano for Kindergarten - Grade 3.

Cheer Club:  Club members learn cheers, jumps, stretches and dances while focusing on teamwork.  Cheerleaders will perform during various school events including Catholic Schools Week and Fun Day to name a few.

This Club is offered by Ms. Anderson and Miss Melissa (a certified DASA instructor and Sachem East Varsity Cheer Coach) for Kindergarten - Grade 5.

Digital Yearbook Club:  Students in the SSPJ Class of 2018 are invited to join the Digital Yearbook Club.  The responsibilities of Club members include:  Gather pictures from fellow students; Help design the format of the digital yearbook; Assist in selecting music; Play a significant part in creating the Class of 2018's Yearbook.  

There is NO cost for this Club.

This Club is offered by Mr. Houlihan and Ms. Falco for 8th Grade students only.

Drama Club:  This year the Drama Club will perform Disney's musical "Alice in Wonderland Jr."  

This Club is offered by Mrs. Gallagher and Ms. Anderson for Grades 4 - 8.

Choral Club:  All students in Grades 1 - 8 are invited to join the Choral Club.  The Club will sing at School Masses and Concerts.

This Club is offered by Miss Hahl and Ms. Anderson for Grades 1 - 8.

Fun and Faith Club:  The Fun and Faith Club is designed to provide an opportunity for students to practice their faith in a fun-filled, thought provoking and inspiring atmosphere.  Some of the activities include Rosary making; learning about the Rosary, Community Service. 

There is NO cost for this Club.

This Club is offered by Mr. John Garvey and Mrs. Ewald for Grades 4 - 8.
